Grow Your Small Business With Your Website and SEO

But I'm just a small business. Is my website and SEO really that important?

I guess it depends. If you are a small business and you are happy with the amount of business you are getting, then you probably don't need to worry about updating your website or trying to improve your search engine optimization.

If, however, you are a small business with the ability and desire to handle more business, then maybe it is time to have a look at your website and SEO to see if it is performing as well as it could be.

For example, I recently received probably the best compliment of my career, when a customer went out of her way to let me how her business was impacted by the work I did on her website. She is a piano teacher in a relatively small community. She had 15 students, but a fairly outdated website that was not bringing in many new students each year. When I had a look at the site, I saw that it was not up to date with current technologies or current search engine optimization best practices. This meant it was not ranking very highly in search results, even in results local to her small community. We rebuilt the site as an SEO-friendly responsive website, utilizing several procedures that are benefical to search engine optimization efforts. The results? After less than five months, traffic to her site had greatly improved - people interested in her services were able to find her on Google, and they were impressed by what they saw. So much so that her number of students had almost doubled - to the point that she was very close to reaching her maximum of 30 students!

Why was this the best compliment of my career? Because it meant that my work had a measurable, positive impact on the success of another small business. It just doesn't get any better than that.
